GenerousBooks Book Club Sign-up Form
For Those Under Age 13

The US government requires GenerousBooks to have on file a parent’s or guardian’s consent to communicate with students under the age of 13. So before we can add your child to the book club announcement service we need to know that you are aware of the services GenerousBooks offers and agree that your child can participate. GenerousBooks respects the privacy of all of its users and does not track usage, use cookies; sell names or display advertising messages on the site. The information collected by GenerousBooks is used only for participating in this book club’s web service and there are no fees associated with the service.

Thank you,
Your friends at GenerousBooks.

Welcome to GenerousBooks, a web site that supports book clubs by keeping members in the communications loop.

Your child has been invited to join a book club that is using GenerousBooks' cookie-, advertising- and cost-free email services. But before we can include your child in our advertising-free notification system the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act requires us to have written parental permission to collect information from children under the age of 13.

At GenerousBooks we value the privacy of all of our users. When your child signs up we will ask for their name, address, phone number and email address. We collect this information so we can communicate with your child and let members of the book club know where you live if and when a meeting is held at your house. Your phone number and address are shared with other members of your child's book club only when your child hosts a meeting. We do not share member information with any outside individuals or entities.

Your child's book club home page is secured by a password and is not available to the public or anyone who is not a member of your child's book club. In addition, a person must be invited to join the book club by the administrator - just as your child has been invited. No one can join this club without an invitation.

Once a child joins their email address is available to other approved members of that book club. This allows each member to be included in messages to the whole group or between members of the book club. Your child's book club also has a bulletin board where members can post messages for each other. It is important for you to know that GenerousBooks does not monitor messages between book club members.

If you are uncomfortable with the GenerousBooks services and prefer that your child not be included in any GenerousBooks emails do not respond to this request for your approval. Our policy is that we will not send messages to your child until we have your signed permission in our files. We do not require your child to disclose more information than is necessary in order for your child to participate in GenerousBooks. However, without your permission, your child cannot participate in the services provided by GenerousBooks. Once you have given permission for your child to join, you may, at any time, request to review the name, address and email information we have collected from your child, ask to have it deleted from GenerousBooks and refuse to allow any further collection or use of your child's information by contacting Ann Simpson at 800-554-7742.

Prior to making any changes to this policy and our practices regarding the use of your child's information, we will notify you and ask for you to give us a new-signed consent.
